Your responsibilities will include;
- Work with Tunza Sports ‘Media and Communications’ Team
- Manage or quarterly newsletters and digital publication
- Educate the public about Tunza mission and how it impacts lives
- Review and edit work for editorial approval
- Use all your findings to prepare clean, concise, and factual articles
- Adhere to the ethical code of the profession and deadlines
- Keep records off all notes, interviews, and audio files.
- Create trustworthy relationships with contacts and sources for use in future research
- Keep up to date on the latest news developments in relation to Tunza’s mission
- Collect, verify, and decipher data
- Preparing story items for presentation in the newscasts
- Write news stories that can help drive online traffic
- Host talk show, interviews, and discussions
- Produce special reports and projects throughout the year
- Make community appearances on the Media Team
- Develop an overall strategy to harness the power of sport to drive social change
Requirements
- College student /Degree in Journalism, Communications, or English
- Work experience as a journalist or reporter
- Working knowledge of computers and databases
- Capable of maintaining an ethical and objective standard in reporting
- Ability to meet deadlines and accurately fast check information
- Exceptional written skills, top-notch grammar, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent observation and judgement skills
- Superb networking skills, and an aptitude to effectively extracting information
- Ability to write investigative articles, feature stories, and analytical pieces
- Provide a portfolio of previous works (published articles or newscasts)
- A course in editorial publishing a MUST
- Proven working experience as a journalist or reporter
- Current knowledge of headlines and international news
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, web search, databases, editing software)
- Excellent networking skills, along with an aptitude in extracting information
- Good observation and deduction skills
- Degree in journalism or relevant field is a plus but not required
- previous experience working as a freelance writer in the sports/entertainment industryAvail two writing samples of sports articles
