Field Hockey Coach

Your responsibilities will include;
- Work with Tunza ‘Coaching Development’ Team
- Introduce Field hockey basics to our athletes
- Facilitate and develop team strategies
- Support athlete’s development
- Coordinate the development and promotion the field hockey program
- Schedule and organize practice sessions
- Supervision and instruction of athletes during all team activities
- Assistance of managing inventory of team uniforms and equipment
- Assistance in the promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life
- Coordinate all aspects of hockey including practice plans and game management
- Organize and run workouts
- Consult on or handle parent concerns
- Provide support to players heading to high school or with college aspirations
- Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season
- Oversee the safety conditions of the hockey facility
- Maintains accurate statistics and records of player development
- Enforce discipline and sportsman like behavior at all times
- Maintain competency in rules, rule interpretations, and coaching techniques
- Adhere to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention
- Collaborate with the head coach on preparation and implementation of training plans
- Availability for all away tournaments
- Coordinate team travel planning and logistics
- Attend coaching development training and seminars
- Help monitor the academic progress of student-athletes
- Work to increase knowledge of coaching through workshops, mentorship, webinars etc.
- Fulfill other specific areas of responsibility to be assigned by coaching director
Requirements
- College degree or current college student
- Coaching Certification preferred but not required
- Know the rules and regulations of hockey
- 5+ Field Hockey playing experience
- Ability to develop sports training programs
- Well-honed leadership qualities
- Good verbal communication skills
- Effective leadership, coaching and recruiting skills
- Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
- Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability
- Reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with other coaches
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all cultural and social barriers
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to provide sound instructions
- Keep Coaching Director informed on special needs/consideration for advanced skills
- Previous coaching or teaching experience (preferred)
