Volunteer Coordinator

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Work with Tunza Sports ‘Internal Management’ Team
  • Work with management to develop a comprehensive volunteer needs assessment
  • Tracks volunteers, and records skills, performance, availability, and scheduling
  • Develops a volunteer manual for internal use that provides information and guidelines for staff
  • Schedules volunteers into calendar events
  • Contacts volunteers to confirm their availability
  • Works to keep volunteers properly informed on changes and new projects
  • Ensures proper background checks are preformed to comply with handling children
  • Ensures volunteers are properly trained in their area of service
  • Design, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization
  • Survey staff regularly to assess needs for volunteer assistance
  • Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service
  • Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteers
  • Work with Marketing and Public Relations and professional associations to publicize opportunities for volunteers
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers
  • Act as a single point of contact for communications for volunteers
  • Confer with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest
  • Facilitate distribution of information relevant to volunteers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of best practices in volunteer coordination
  • Recruiting, screening, and training experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative work environment
  • Minimum 3 years of program coordination and project management experience
  • Minimum 1 year of working with the public in formal and informal setting
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, motivate and lead
  • Have excellent oral and written skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Able to develop and manage complex projects and budgets within guidelines
  • Able to work both independently and in cross-functional teams and solve problems creatively
  • Outstanding organizational & time management skills
  • Experience with program evaluation
  • Excellent computer skills including excel, word processing and database management
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to see change as an opportunity rather than an obstacle
