Your responsibilities will include;
- Work with Tunza Sports ‘Field Operations’ Team
- Lead role in conducting home visits to players families
- Provide on-site program assistance
- Learn and understand the culture within your region
- Take family history of players from different members and compare notes for accuracy
- Build an accurate and complete health history, including immunization certificates
- Inform the management and coaches of health conditions to ensure each player’s safety
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and information
- Empower parents to establish a strong foundation for their child’s sport career
- Provide comprehensive services that identify the needs of the players and families
- Educate parents on child development, nutrition, safety, and mental health
- Take part in family video interviews and provoke/lead conversations
- Explain to parents the role of Tunza in their child’s life to avoid misguided expectations
- Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child including in-practice observations, and developmental assessments
- Engage parents on health and personal habits of the children, such as eating, resting, brushing teeth, and toilet habits
- Identify available community resources to match family needs
- Provide support, make referrals, and document progress on goal achievement
- Enlighten parents on Tunza policies on child labor and child rights
- Encourage and invite families to Tunza events to promote community engagement, interaction, and education
- Promote parent participation in program governance, and overall program participation
- Conduct monthly ninety (90) minute per home visit to at least 10 players and their families
- Spearhead and ‘Hockey Moms’ and ‘Hockey Dads’ groups to help engage parents in their children’s sporting activities.
- Attend practice and games to be able to provide eyewitness report to family
- Document all referrals to families as required by the performance standards, on a daily
- Develop, in collaboration with the family, individual plans that identify strengths, goals and needs of each family
- Act as a liaison and advocate between Tunza and families
- Involve parents in the sports activities of the program to enhance their role as the principle influence on their child
- Promote good relationships with neighborhood and community groups
- Report child abuse of any kind to Management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications / Education/Public Relations/Social work
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to ever-changing scenarios.
- 1+ years’ experience in community service
- Be well versed on Tunza mission and goals
- Experience in jobs that involved heavy volume of interaction and communication
- Demonstrate proficiency in note taking or use of recorder
- Experience in relationship management, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Customer service-oriented attitude required
- Well-honed leadership qualities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be well versed with cultural and social barriers of underprivileged communities
- This position requires traveling to regions in areas that are remote and poor
